Illegal downloading is done everyday, whether its with music, movies, and or some other kind of content. We all may have done it at least once in our life, the international federation of the phonographic industry (IFPI) stated in one of their digital music reports that 28% of  internet users access unlicensed content, mostly of them being p2p or peer to peer sites or programs like Frost-Wire, Lime-wire, and Bearshare just to name a few. But its not just americans who are doing it the most, Spain and Brazil have the highest rate of internet users getting illegal content at 45%. 3.6 billion downloads were bought globally in 2011 and has caused a drop in revenue for record labels who are selling music online, and actually made it competitive for them as well. Reports state that South Korea has taken action and actually began to see growth in digital sales for record companies. Its starting to become a problem that the U.S shut down the site megaupload.com and arrested its founding members in New Zealand.

Illegal downloading is a huge problem for people when it comes to the music industry. Tons of money can be lost because of it. My thing is i actually think its to big of a problem for people to handle without the  S.O.P.A bill being agreed upon. I dont agree with that bill, but for this reason yes we should have it. I know i am a hypocrite about this subject because I too have and still do use p2p sites for music, and recently before my change in mind about netflix use to watch movies online using megaupload.com.
